Description:
For the last project of this collection, the assignment was to create a “professional” new text for public or academic consumption. With the help of two colleagues of mine, we had pieced together this 30-second infomercial promoting our university’s Writing and Communication Center, featuring the relatively “new” element of virtual consultation.
Reflection:
As a group effort, I enjoyed working with Anthony Laboriel and Emma Masur for this project! With Anthony’s editing, Emma’s voiceover and graphics and my filming, I found that this project was a relatively speedy one with the right people designated for each respective area. During the predominantly virtual era of Nova Southeastern University, I felt that it was necessary to promote the Writing and Communication Center’s virtual consultations, as many incoming Freshmen are not aware of the services available to them in a BlendFlex setting. This production was one of the first in-person videos that I had produced in about a year – certainly the first in-person production since the COVID-19 pandemic had first started. While I feel there is more that could be done, I am satisfied with this video and I hope to see other similar videos produced to accompany this one to add variety.
