Description

This 15-page press kit introduces Riviera Travel as an ultra-premium brand offering river cruises, ocean yacht journeys, and global land tours. It highlights the company’s 40+ years of experience, custom-designed fleet, immersive itineraries, onboard amenities, themed cruises, solo travel options, and key story angles for media coverage. Visually, the kit uses a polished blue-and-white travel aesthetic that is true to the company’s branding, with ship photography and clean layouts to present Riviera as luxurious, informative, and journalist-friendly.

Reflection

With this third project, I was presented the opportunity to connect my graduate coursework in the Editing, Layout, and Design class with my real work as a PR intern at Hemsworth Communications. Since the class project and internship task coincided, I approached the Riviera Travel press kit as both a professional media resource and a design problem: how to turn dense, raw information into something clear, useful, and visually organized. My process was guided by Jan White’s idea of design as an “interpretive service,” Tuomo Hiippala’s discussion of the relationship between rhetoric and layout, and Jane Friedman’s focus on curation and discoverability. Together, these concepts helped me understand that strong design is not just about aesthetics; it is about making information easier for journalists to find, understand, and use.
