Description
I think by now, my cohort understands my love and appreciation for Bad Bunny. Instead of creating a podcast for this project, I chose to make a remix featuring several of Bad Bunny’s songs. Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican artist, is highly known for using his voice as a form of resistance and advocating for Latinos. As a Latina, I take pride in my heritage and culture, which is why I admire Bad Bunny so much. Before starting this project, I downloaded the MP3 files of each song and cut my favorite parts from them. I knew which song I wanted to start and end with but the rest took a bit of arranging. It proved challenging to transition between each song smoothly, but after some trial and error, I found what I thought sounded the best.
Reflection
I’ve previously used Premiere Rush to create and edit podcasts, so I thought I would use the same app for the remix. However, I ran into some issues with the transitions, which I had to fix using CapCut. At the beginning of the remix, I included an edited clip of President Trump’s voice from Bad Bunny’s song “NUEVAYol.” I also included a whistle sound at the start, as, amid political tension, citizens have been using whistles to alert others of ICE agents being near. Although this project isn’t a traditional alphabetic text, but rather a different mode, I made rhetorical choices to engage and provoke the listener. As a multilingual student, I appreciate multimodal projects like this one because they demonstrate meaning making can be created in different ways beyond just writing an essay. I almost feel like this remix is a response or an addition to previous work I’ve submitted in the program. I hope you enjoy it!
