Description
Inspired by the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show preview, this parody exposes Victoria’s Secret for their unethical values and sexual misconduct allegations.
Reflection
In 2018, the #MeToo movement exposed the misconduct and unethical values within Victoria’s Secret, particularly their annual runway show. This parody is a remake of the 2024 Victoria Secret Fashion Show Preview, where I intentionally used their original design elements to create a different message behind the short-video.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returned this year with a new focus on diversity and inclusion, although facing allegations of bullying and harassment of employees and models; executives dismissive of casting diverse and inclusive models; and former billionaire CEO Les Wexner’s close ties to convicted sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. (Macabasco 2022)
With today’s influence of technology and social media, societal standards for women have shifted. This shift prompted the hate and slander towards Victoria’s Secret, as their viewers realized that the models promote unrealistic body image and standards for young girls. Vie touches on this, explaining that several studies have shown that children who are exposed to a lot of technology have rewired brains.
Victoria’s Secret is ultimately rewiring the brains of the young females who look up to their runway angels.
