Description
Welcome to Raw and Real: Her Perspective. This podcast is a place where women can talk about their unfiltered realities of living in today’s society. I explore everything from the double standards women face, to the challenges of balancing work, family, and self-care.
In this first episode, I tackle the controversial topic of female sexuality in music. Why is it that when women express themselves, they’re often labeled as vulgar or inappropriate? Join me as we discuss the hypocrisy of these double standards and we can empower women to keep challenging the stereotype in male-dominated careers.
Reflection
The inspiration behind creating this podcast stems from Lambke, as she explains that podcasts have become an increasingly popular and influential medium for consuming audio. I created the first episode because of my strong opinions on the double standards within the music industry. Within the episode I created a remix of song clips that highlight raunchy lyrics from both men and women, serving as the foundation for the conversation.
My process for recording the episode was to expand upon my already constructed opinions on the topic, backed up by recent articles and studies. Rule’s argument stands true in this case, claiming that writing is already multimodal. I turned my written opinions into this episode. The episode concludes by opening the doors to future women empowering conversations.
