Description
This podcast episode explores the emotional toll that migration can take on mental health, the role of fear and stress in this experience, and how migrants find ways to cope and thrive.
Reflection
My parents migrated to America over 30 years ago, and I have witnessed firsthand how emotionally exhausting this experience was for them and my two older siblings. The journey wasn’t easy, and I feel that not many people discuss it. Leaving the only place you have ever known is incredibly challenging, and the “waiting” is often the most difficult part—waiting for residency and waiting for a visa.
Through this episode, I hope to provide an intimate and empathetic perspective on this issue. I recognize that migration is not a singular experience; people move for various reasons, including political instability, economic hardship, violence, and environmental factors. Nevertheless, I hope we can create a more supportive environment for migrants, fostering resilience and healing within these communities.
