Description:
My logo and newsletter were created for a podcast I recorded an episode for several semesters ago, which has yet to go live but which I hope to eventually pursue. The podcast is centered around the HBO series Game of Thrones and it would be a discussion of the series from its first episode to its finale. The discussion would involve myself and various guest hosts analyzing individual episodes while enjoying some alcoholic libations (likely themed around the show, for added fun). The title is an homage to a well known quote from the show by character Tyrion Lannister: “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.” To reflect the premise of the podcast, the logo features a hybrid between a microphone and a champagne glass (complete with bubbles) on a wine-red background. You might also consider this logo my house sigil if I were a character in the storyworld.
Reflection:
These projects were both fun and practical for me to create. I’ve learned a bit about manipulating vector images through software like Inkscape (though admittedly the final drafts of my logo and newsletter were created in Canva, which I find much easier to use and which allowed me to create the kinds of designs I was aiming for). I enjoyed incorporating elements of my logo design in the newsletter, hopefully making them cohesive without being too repetitive or literal. I genuinely hope to use these designs in the future (post-graduation, when I will, in theory, have more time to host and edit a podcast).
