Description:
This podcast analyzes storytelling done by the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a special focus on Marvel’s transition to making both film and tv shows being streamed on Disney+.
Reflection:
The podcast was so much fun to create. The project provided us an opportunity to critically examine one of the most popular forms of media right now, which is streaming. We examined how Marvel utilizes the communication medium to its advantage in our current state of stay-at-home entertainment due to COVID-19. After running into some recording issues on Cleanfeed, we ended up using Zoom. Recording on Zoom was enjoyable because the podcast felt more conversational. Being able to see each other’s reactions helped generate and guide the conversation. Through the podcast, we referred to talking points that were generated but never relied on a script. The talking points were established before recording to keep us on track and help us make sure that we covered everything we wanted to discuss. After recording, the file was then saved to SharkMedia. The audio component was downloaded. Our podcast ended up being over an hour, which was cut down to 43 minutes and 30 seconds. The final podcast was edited in Adobe Premiere. The two biggest concerns were being able to cut down on external noise and additional words to help shorten the podcast. A background track was also added to help enhance the overall audio. The main graphic used for the podcast was created on Canva. It has creative nods toward WandaVision and Marvel’s color scheme.
