Description

I chose to do my parody project utilizing the social media website twitter. Using memes from my time on “kpop” and “stan” twitter, I attempt to decontextualize the experiences and stresses of being a student writer through humor and relatability.

Reflection:

I feel like writing is inherently such an intellectual field. Us writers hold steadfast to this intellectuality and debate the semantics of what constitutes the best practices and pedagogies. I was frustrated with having to engage with such high-levels of work every week in my coursework as well as feeling lonesome because I had no one around me I could discuss my work with in a meaningful manner. I decided to try poking fun at the high “intellectualism” of the writing field by using the very things that make me laugh when I’m down and my vernacular with close friends, the language of memes and reaction videos .

This work still needs a lot more submissions, and perhaps what is posted on the account is a prelude to something more. Out of all the projects I’ve done this semester, this is my favorite because it is something I can truly see growing with more cultivation.
