Description
This project discusses the use of a green screen to explore the concept of eversion of physical and digital space and to analyze our relationship with technology and each other. Immersing oneself or an audience within a subject matter can be a powerful method of storytelling. Integrating green screen technology into rhetorical strategies can redefine the way we engage with narratives and foster a richer connection between content and audience.
I opted to use this particular technology for the project due to its immediate accessibility and availability. I created the final product by adjusting the lighting, recording a video using an iPhone, and manipulating the green screen space using iMovie software on my laptop. I layered different videos as backgrounds and achieved the desired effect by using the overlay “green/blue screen” feature. This technology is commonly used in movies, news productions, art installations, and live performances; it can enhance the audience experience and alter perceptions.
Why It Matters
The use of green screen technology matters because it enhances communication, alters perceptions, enables immersive experiences, and opens up new avenues for research and storytelling. It has become a valuable tool in various industries and offers exciting possibilities for engaging audiences and exploring the intersections of technology and human behavior. This approach can lead to more compelling communication across various fields and disciplines.
Reflection
Diving into a project that mixes the physical and digital worlds offered a great opportunity to observe how blurred the line is between what’s real and what’s digital. This project offers insight into the technological aspect as well its influence on narrative and human connection. Exploring this intersection has allowed me to see how our connection to technology has changed over time and how it has influenced our ability to connect with each other.
