DISCUSSION

I am happy with how this final project turned out! Since it was not the original idea that I had drafted, I am happy with how it was turned around to fit the idea of what I had wanted to create in the first place. The Greens Magazine is a short magazine that outlines healthy living tips and tricks for readers that are interested in sustainable eating, green diets, exercise, and more. This project originated as a personal project I had created many years ago; at first the project was just the cover of the magazine and the idea together. I had already created the concept of the Greens Magazine and an old version of the cover, however for this project, I chose to revisit the idea and take it much further. I edited the cover to announce the new stories that I created for each layout and also changed out the imagery as well. I utilized InDesign for this project, as this platform is my favorite for creating larger document designs. I found the photos on Unsplash, a free stock imagery website that holds stock photos for basically any genre of design. The content copy throughout was written by myself as well. I have always been a lover of document design, so I was thrilled to be able to take an older project I had started and bring it to fruition for this class.

REFLECTION
I would definitely say that the design thinking process influenced how I approached the rebranding of this project. Since I already had the concept in mind, I had to consider how I would ideate the rest of the project differently in order to reach the objectives of the assignment. In all, I really did not have much to work with; I only truly had created the idea of the project and an initial design of the cover beforehand. The rest of the magazine came together through trial and error, thinking about what types of articles this audience would be interested in and trying to keep a diverse range of articles within the short span of pages as well. Testing out the layout of each page was interesting too, as I had to work with two pages in mind at once as opposed to only working on one page at a time as I do with many other design projects. This project really worked to combine both writing and design elements into one by providing the opportunity to work with layout design principles as well as writing out each article. I had to keep in mind how the writing impacted the layout design and vise versa throughout all of my designing. I would say that keeping both design and writing conventions in mind while creating each spread was the most challenging part of this project. Overall, I am satisfied with the outcome of this project. I feel as though it reflects a polished magazine that articulates a healthy lifestyle and the importance of being a conscious consumer.
