DESCRIPTION
For this project, I wanted to design a text that would act as an onboarding document for clients when they are starting a project with EM Design. A client creative brief is a document that is sent to new clients in an effort to get to know the client, their expectations for the project, and really understand their businesses’ identity and goals. This type of document is useful in getting to know the parameters of the project, and also helps to determine the cost and timeline as well. I chose to incorporate the EM Design logo into the document to ensure that it held true to EM Design’s brand identity. Additionally, I chose to incorporate the brand’s color palette as well. I utilized Adobe InDesign to create this document.
REFLECTION
With this project being a subset of a larger project (my thesis), I had to consider how it related to the larger project at hand. The Activity Theory helped me to unpack the subject, object, motive, and tools that this subset of my thesis asked for. My goal was to create a document that reflects the importance of establishing a relationship between myself and the client that vocalizes the clients needs and goals for their business. With that, this document aims to decide which approach to the project is the best, and establishes the tools needed to execute the project to the best of my ability. I can then utilize this document as a means of going back and referencing the initial project goals and comparing them to the final product. This will allow me to ensure that the client is getting the best from EM Design as a whole. I think the area I struggled the most with was deciding the necessary components of the document – what is the most important questions that are valuable to have a written response to ask versus questions I can ask in the onboarding call. Overall, I am happy with the design as it speaks to EM Design and the identity of the brand, and I believe that this text will be a valuable asset to have for my business in the future.
