Description:
This audio drama was inspired by the infamous War of the World radio broadcast of the early 20th century. Using a combination of AI generated voice acting, free to use sound effects, and music, this parody mimics a radio show. Copying the events of the attempted Capitol Insurrection on January 6th, this drama follows a broadcast as the events become increasingly more dire. Just as in the original, the broadcast has a happy, although uncomfortable, ending.

Reflection:
The process of making this was very difficult from a typical writing assignment. I had a large variety of considerations to make. The first step was creating the actual script itself. Looking at the original War of the Worlds script, I noticed that there were several different segments throughout. I thought about the different segments that might occur in a real life radio show and used that to influence my script.
However, I ultimately ended up breaking the conventions of using human voices. To add to the overall uncanny valley feeling of this assignment, I decided to use AI voice actors in place of regular voice actors. Playing around with the voices, speed, and pitch was difficult. Overall, the voice were one of the areas I was least satisfied with. in addition, I would like to expand this to make it longer and more realistic while also including a wider variety of sound effects in future iterations. Despite my unfamiliarity with audio editing, I feel that the final project accurately accomplishes my original goal of blending fake news, music, and parody into one.
