A reading of the original poem “The Other Heartbreak” by Athena Edwards. The poem is published in Volume 18 of the Digressions Literary and Art Journal and was written to reflect the pain of a lost friendship.
Reflection:
I’m much more of a writer than a reader, so I actually had quite a bit of self-doubt with this piece. I had to consider background music choice, if the music was the right volume, if my enunciation was clear, if I had the right balance of emotion in my voice, and if I was pacing myself well. I hope that my reading (and poem) appeals to audiences’ emotions and make people going through this kind of hardship feel less alone.
