Description
This manifesto was written for modern women in the workplace. The “rules” are organized, concise, and include hyperlinks to credible sources that support the text. The integration of audio, images, and spatial design, all were intentionally selected to support the message: women can overcome the historic sexism in the workplace and find great success if they adhere to these “rules.”
Reflection
Creating this manifesto was very empowering! I found great pride in recognizing how much women’s rights have changed and increased through the last century. Although women still have so much to accomplish, I wanted to create a manifesto that spoke on the obstacles in the modern workplace. This manifesto alone is a sign of a community that wants to see women succeed and reach their full potential. Specifically, this audiovisual four-page manifesto evolved, in theory, from the 1960’s women’s liberation movement. As scholar Joe Sabia mentioned in his Ted Talk, The Technology of Storytelling, “The art of storytelling has remained unchanged. And for the most part, the stories are recycled. But the way that humans tell the stories, has always evolved with pure, consistent novelty” (Sabia, 2014). In this manifesto, I considered my wide-ranging female audience and their possible needs. Therefore, I included an audio file to support the message, hyperlinks for quick access to the original sources, book recommendations, and linked resources. My intention is for women to remember their rights, use their tools, and stop at nothing to reach what they envision.
