Reflection
This was a procrastination project for me; it took longer to work up to getting it done as I was worried about the tech, about the content, and timings. However, once we had a run-through, I found we had plenty to talk about on the topic, and I was able to develop the script from there. I found a remote program (Riverside.com), and used that to record the raw audio. Riverside proved to be glitchy when trying to download the edited version, so I uploaded it to Audacity to check the edits and save from there. Overall, I was pleased with the final version. I think the conversation flows naturally while being semi-structured with planned questions to help the topic remain interesting and focused.
If I were to redo this, I would give examples of the resulting literary devices from the game, for example, Getting my computer to follow my basic instructions is like herding cats; a lot of energy and noise without achieving anything vaguely useful. Adding in this result would demonstrate the value of the lesson, a more effective way of convincing the audience than stating that it’s good. My theorist for this project was Donald Murray, a reminder that the end result may never truly be finished, that composition can be continually recursive, and therefore my goal is never perfection, it’s learning through review and revision, and completion to a high standard.
