This is the lyrics for an adaptation of Sekai o Hai ni Suru Made (lit. Until The World is turned to Ashes) from the anime Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight, which is a series about stage fighting. I did not end up recording this project due to the lack of confidence and stage fright I have regarding my singing voice. I do hope everyone does look at the lyrics, because I did work hard on them! I’ll post a link to the original song so everyone can see if my lyrics hypothetically fit.
LYRICS:
As it rises through the heavens, a wicked flame is burning bright
The morning star meets sin, and falls to the earth below
Because I have a dream I can not give up, a vast sky above I need to save
Like a shooting star falling from the sky , my arrow will give chase to you
Things like memories will fade away, becoming so very faint
As I face the cruel winds, I will swear an oath
Because no one can interfere
This world will burn to ash
My flame will be burning brighter above everyone
Reflection:
I chose not to complete this project for the reasons stated prior . I do have a very keen interest in translation, particularly in the context of music. I listen to Japanese music frequently, and have an interest in the music in particular since i’ve been listening to it since age 10. When translating I always want to try retaining some semblance of the original meaning while making sure I fit the syllables or pentameter of the original, as this is a translation that is meant to be sung.
