The Symphony’s myriad of educational programs services over 10,000 Broward County students annually. We thank our public partner, the School Board of Broward County, through its SEAS (Student Enrichment in Arts & Science) program.
Student beneficiaries of the Symphony‘s programs funded in part by the Mary Jane Harlow Charitable Trust.
Programs Include:
Music: Experience the Fun
An in-school program with Symphony of the Americas ensembles, geared to middle school students as a hands-on introduction to orchestral instruments, and a vital recruitment tool for music teachers.
Guest Artist Master Classes, and Performance Workshops
Either in school or at the Broward Center, this program enables our internationally acclaimed guest artists to spend their week in residence visiting Broward’s international, magnet and performing arts schools, general music classes, and coaching school music ensembles. Performances and workshops at the Center and integrated into the classroom, focus not only on musical performance, but a cultural exchange between artist and student exploring the effects of cultural heritage, and cross-curriculum influences in areas of science, literature, history and the visual arts.
Music For Youth
Selected ensembles of the Symphony of the Americas perform mini-concerts at area schools, and also present inschool classes for students in existing music programs, assisting in musicality and technique.
